The AgedBrainSYSBIO consortium is supported by two independent external Advisors
Scientific Advisor
The Scientific Advisor will have consultative function and will advice the AgedBrainSYSBIO Consortium in terms of work programme, scientific quality and project strategy.
Prof Guus Smit will act as scientific advisor to the AgedBrainSYSBIO project. Prof Smit is director of the Centerfor Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research (CNCR) of the VU University Amsterdam, Netherlands. He is expert in the field of systems biology and systems medicine and coordinator of the FP7 project SynSys Project. Appointing Prof. Smit as AgedBrainSYSBIO Scientific Advisor will strengthen our collaboration between the two projects.
Ethics Advisor
Due to the nature of the project an independent Ethics Advisor has been appointed to monitor all ethical and regulatory concerns raised in the project.
Prof Robin JACOBY, MD, has accepted this task. Prof Jacoby is emeritus professor of old age at the university of Oxford and has international reputation in old age psychiatry research and neurobiology of ageing and has strong expertise in related ethical and regulatory issues.
